The Nintendo 3ds game Mario Party: Star Rush has been released in European region on October 7th, 2016. Many Nintendo fans can’t wait to have a try on this game. So someone may ask if it’s possible to play Mario Party: Star Rush on their O3DS v4.x or 9.x ?
First of all, let’s make it clear what’s the precondition for playing this 3ds game:
- 1. Mario Party: Star Rush requires your 2DS/O3DS/NEW 3DS Sysnand firmware to be at least v11.0.0 to play this 3ds game.
- 2. To play this game, you need a retail game cartridge of Mario Party: Star Rush, or simply a flashcard and a 3ds rom of this game.
Firstly, it’s not economical to buy a retail game cartridge of Mario Party: Star Rush, because new 3ds games keep being released all the time and it’s rather costly to own a retail game card for every game.
In this case, flashcard such as SKY3DS+ (or SKY3DS Plus) or Gateway 3DS card is very helpful and cost effective.
So if you own a Nintendo 2DS/O3DS/N3DS of latest firmware V11.1.0-34 or newer versions such as v10.x, you’d better get a SKY3DS+ card. As we know, SKY3DS+ is the only 3ds flashcart that can support nearly all 3ds roms on the latest 3DS v11.1.0 or lower systems.
But let’s get back to the question we raised at the beginning: how is it possible if you own a O3DS of firmware v4.x or 9.x ?
In this case, Gateway 3DS card will make it work for you— the EmuNAND— which is its distinguished feature. With EmuNAND function, Gateway 3DS card enable you to play Mario Party: Star Rush via updating the EmuNAND to 11.1.0 while leaving your O3DS at its original firmware v4.x or 9.x. However, it has to be noticed that please make sure your 3DS/2DS console’s firmware is between V4.1-9.2, which is the precondition for Gateway 3DS card to work.
Now let’s take a look at pictures showing that I am playing Mario Party: Star Rush on my O3DS v4.5.0-10U (EmuNAND updated to 11.1.0-34):
